I hope everyone is having a relaxing winter break so far! I know I am! We are finishing up shopping, wrapping, and baking.
I got an email today from a student's mom who forwarded a message from a soldier in Iraq. A while back, we made Christmas cards to be sent in care packages to the troops. Here is her message to the class:

Today I got a WONDERFUL package! I got a package from a class in Norwalk. I don't know how they got my name but it was super special. Each kid wrote me a letter and decorated it! It was GREAT!!! Brought tears to my eyes and smiles to my face!!! I can't wait to color some pictures and send them a letter back!!

How awesome! I know the class had a great time making these cards and when I read through them, I was very proud. They did a great job and it's nice to know that something this small made a difference to someone on the other side of the world!

A few reminders:
Wednesday, Dec. 15 is a 12:05 early out and DARE day.
Friday, we will have a band concert at 8:30 for the students...don't forget instruments!
Friday is NOT an early out day. We dismiss at normal time.
Secret Santa will run again on Friday before school and at lunch.

Today was a busy Friday! In music, we are watching A Muppet's Christmas Carol. The Holiday Hop is today after school from 3-4:30! We took our "Dinosaur's of Waterhouse Hawkins" selection test and have a report to show you at home. Next week we have DARE on Wednesday and 12:00 early out on Wednesday. We also took a spelling test today on spellingcity.com. We had an assembly on Monday and his message was, "You are strong enough to be nice". There will be a science quiz on Tuesday. We are still collecting gifts for Project Santa...the due date is Monday!! Here are a few things you can still donate: gift cards from walmart and grocery stores, boy size 8 jeans, Avatar movie, perfume, jewelry sets, Despicable Me DVD, Shoes (boy size 9, girls size 5). There are many more items on the list! Please look at your letter that was sent home last week to see if there is something you'd like to give.
